Women’s 13-14

200 Yard Backstroke

Super Final Results 

  1. Jianna Amores – 2:01.56 – Warriors Aquatic Club
  2. Penelope Lopez-Casula – 2:03.00 – Eagle Aquatics

From Warrior Aquatics, Jianna won the women’s 13-14 superfinal with a time of 2:01.56, dropping .80 from her previous time. Jianna was also runner up in the women’s 50 free with a crazy time drop of 1.09 seconds. She continued this trend, dropping 1.31 seconds in her 100 free. Jianna also won the 100 & 200 Fly, going best times in both events. She finished the day off by securing another gold medal in the 400 IM (4:33.52). 

Penelope Lopez-Casula representing Eagle Aquatics took second place dropping nearly 4 seconds off her previous best. Penelope achieved a new futures qualifying time with this swim. She would win five gold medals and swim more best times in the 50 free (22.79), 100 free (50.15), 200 free (1:48.58), 500 (5:00.25), and 1650 (17:22.08). She also earned a spot on the podium in the 100 back placing third with a 58.19. 

Coming in third place from Carlsbad, California was Lola Hallin, dropping nearly 3.5 seconds from her previous best. All of Lola’s swims earned her a spot on the podium, including a 1.28 second drop in 100 free (51.90), 1.52 second drop in 200 free (1:52.73), .58 drop in 100 back (57.01), a .25 drop in 100 breast (1:07.45), and a .56 second drop in 100 fly (58.06).

Closing out the super final was Brooklyn Lang from Bellevue, dropping more than 2 seconds from her previous best time.  Brooklyn would also super final and go best times in the 200 IM (2:08.62) and 400 IM (4:37.37), and she also swam a best time in the 500 (5:14.29).

100 Yard Breaststroke

Winning the 100 breaststroke was Tatum Enge out of Bellevue with a 1:03.38, and she would also win the 200 breaststroke (2:21.99) and the 200 IM (2:05.29).  Tatum also picked up a Futures cut in the 50 free, swimming a best time of 23.82 and finishing 3rd in the event.  On Day 1 of the SSDL National Championships, Tatum would follow up her 100 breaststroke win with a 2nd place finish in the 200 free (1:52.60).

Also from Bellevue Club, Jessica Li took home 2nd in the 100 breaststroke, dropping .8 from her previous best time.  Jessica also swam best times in the 200 breast (2:29.16), 100 fly (1:04.42), and 200 IM (2:21.29), and she earned another super final swim in the 200 breaststroke.  

In her 2nd of 3 super final swims of night 1, Lola Hallin would take 3rd place and earn a new best time in the process.  Coached by Bradford Hancock, and training with Coronado Swim Team Elite, Lola would finish 7th in the high point race for the women’s 13-14 division.  Earning a super final swim in every event, Lola had an incredible performance at the SSDL National Championships.

Representing West Coast Aquatics, Krystyna dropped more than 2 seconds from her previous best time (1:10.58 to a 1:08.27).  Krystyna would also swim best times in the 50 free (24.72), 100 free (55.78), and 200 breast (2:29.40), and earn herself another super final swim in the 200 breaststroke.

200 Yard Freestyle

Penelope would win her first of 5 gold medals in the 200 freestyle, dropping 1.2 seconds from her previous best.  Coached by Adam Madarassy, Penelope would earn super final swims in the 50, 100 free, 500 free, 100 back and 200 back.  Penelope would take first place in the women’s 13-14 high point division, scoring 161 points to Jianna Amores’ 159.

Tatum would take 2nd in the 200 free, and this was one of seven super final swims she earned at the SSDL National Championships (50 free, 200 free, 100 breast, 200 breast, 100 fly, 200 fly, and the 200 IM).  Tatum would go home with the third place trophy in the women’s 13-14 high point, scoring 155 points.

In her 3rd super final swim of the night, Lola would drop 1.5 seconds from her previous best time (1:54.25 to a 1:52.73).  Earning one of her 5 podium finishes in the 200 free, she would set herself up to come back on day 2 and win gold in the 100 back (57.01), and finish 3rd in the 100 free with a best time of 51.90. 

From Sunkist Swim Team in Mississippi, Sophia would earn 1 of her 4 super final swims in the 200 free, dropping nearly half a second from her previous best.  Sophia would also swim best times in the 200 back (2:09.78) and the 500 free (5:13.33), and earn super final swims in the 50, 100, and 500 free.

In her second super final swim of the night, Jianna would take home her second of 4 gold medals (200 back, 400 IM, 100 & 200 fly).  In addition, she earned super final swims in the 50 & 100 free, and 200 IM.  Keep an eye out for what she does at the meet at the SwimStrong Dryland Elite Camp in June! 

There were 2 swimmers from Bellevue Club in this super final, and the first was Brooklyn Lang who placed second, dropping more than 1.5 seconds in the process.  Like Jianna, Brooklyn also swam in the super final of the 200 backstroke on night 1 of the SSDL Championship meet.  Brooklyn would place 4th in the women’s 13-14 high point with 135 points.

From Seahawks Swim Club, Sarah Dixon would drop nearly 2 seconds from her previous best time (4:47.39 to 4:45.62).  While racing at the SSDL National Championships, Sarah would earn another super final swim in the 200 fly finishing 3rd (2:08.21), and she swam a best time in the 200 back (2:13.45).

The 2nd Bellevue Club swimmer in the super final was Blakely Biege, who dropped more than 13 seconds from her previous best (5:01.39 to 4:47.71).  Blakely would also swim best times in the 100 breast (1:08.79), 100 fly (1:00.71), and the 200 fly (2:15.66) while racing in Fishers.

Wes earned seven super final swims at the SSDL National Championships, and he won the 200 backstroke super final with a best time of 1:56.76.  As a member of West Coast Aquatics, Wes would also swim best times in the 50 free (23.14), 100 free (49.40), and 200 fly (2:04.27), and earn super final swims in the 50/100/200/500 free, 100 back & 200 fly.

In second place was fellow West Coast Aquatics swimmer Nakul Choudhary, who swam over 5 seconds faster than his previous best time.  Nakul also had a great 100 backstroke, where he went a best time of 58.38 at finals.  In addition, he swam personal bests in the 50 free (24.94) & 100 free (54.21). 

Edi Vasilescu was one of 2 swimmers from Wave Aquatics who closed out the 200 backstroke super final.  In prelims, he went a 2:09.05, dropping 4 seconds from his previous best.  Edi would also earn a super final swim in the 100 backstroke, where he finished 4th with a 1:01.48.

The second swimmer from Wave Aquatics to super final in the 200 back was Roman Byelykh.  Roman dropped nearly 5 seconds from his previous best time (2:10.87 from a 2:15.78), and he would also swim best times in every event he swam at the SSDL National Championships (100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 1650, 100 & 200 fly).

100 Yard Breaststroke

  1. Brody Porter – 1:01.05 – The Claremont Club
  2. Matthew Song – 1:04.04 – West Coast Aquatics
  3. Payton Kim – 1:04.41 – West Coast Aquatics
  4. Daniel Chen – 1:06.02 – Wave Aquatics

Brody Porter won the 13-14 100 yard breaststroke, dropping half a second from his previous best.  Brody had a very successful meet, going best times in the 50 free (23.08), 100 free (50.92), 200 free (1:50.59), 200 breast (2:13.42), 200 IM (2:01.23), and 400 IM (4:22.06) and earning seven super final swims.  Out of California, Brody swims with The Claremont Club and is coached by Christian Watts.

Finishing second was Matthew Song from West Coast Aquatics, dropping nearly 3.5 seconds from his previous best (1:04.04 from a 1:07.40).  Matthew would also earn a super final swim in the 200 breast (finishing 2nd with a 2:18.41), and go best times in the 200 IM (2:12.92) and 400 IM (4:42.64).  Matthew and his teammate Payton (who finished 3rd), are coached by Jason Schoper & Andrew Winquist at West Coast Aquatics.

Also from West Coast Aquatics, Payton Kim finished 3rd with his 1:04.41.  Payton would earn his second super final swim in the 200 breaststroke, with a prelim swim of 2:23.90.  Payton would earn final swims in the 50 & 100 free, 200 breast, 100 fly, and 200 & 400 IM.  

Daniel Chen would finish 4th with a best time of 1:06.02.  While representing Wave Aquatics, Daniel would also swim a best time in the 100 free (54.19).  He would also earn final swims in the 200 breast & 400 IM, coached by Chad Winkle.

200 Yard Freestyle

Wes would earn his second 1st place finish of the day in the 200 freestyle, after swimming a best time in the 200 backstroke.  In addition to his seven super final swims and three new best times, Wes was the high point award winner for the Men’s 13-14 age group, walking away with 162 points.  

In his first super final swim of the meet, Lucas Watkins would swim a best time dropping over a second from his previous best.  Representing Bobcat Swim Club at the SSDL National Championships, Lucas would earn super final swims and go best times in the 100 fly (54.72), 200 fly (1:59.92), 200 IM (2:03.43) & 400 IM (4:21.34).

Out of Kansas City, Isaac Stewart finished 3rd in the 200 freestyle.  In prelims, he earned his super final swim with a best time of 1:51.09, dropping half a second from his previous best.  Isaac would also swim best times in the 100 free (49.52) and 100 breast (1:06.18) coached by Nate Long and Bryce Kober.  

Brody Porter had his second super final swim of the night in the 200 free, after winning the 100 breaststroke.  In prelims, Brody swam a best time of 1:50.59 to be the top seed heading into finals.  Brody would finish just behind Wes Jasper in the Men’s 13-14 high point race, finishing with 156 points to Jasper’s 162.

After finishing second in the 200 freestyle Lucas had a quick turnaround to win the 400 IM, earning his spot in finals by going a best time of 4:21.34 in prelims (nearly a 5 second drop).  He would also win the timed finals of the mile (17:23.52), 100 fly (51.72) and 200 fly (1:59.92).  Lucas would finish 3rd in the Men’s 13-14 high point, finishing behind Wes Jasper of West Coast Aquatics & Brody Porter of The Claremont Club. 

In his THIRD super final swim of the night, Brody finished 2nd after dropping 7.5 seconds in prelims with a best time of 4:22.06.  As mentioned previously, Brody had an incredible meet at the SSDL National Championships, swimming a best time in every event he swam (50/100/200 free, 100/200 breast, 200/400 IM).  

Swimming for the Bellevue Club Swim Team, Wiktor Schabowski finished 3rd, dropping nearly 1.5 seconds in the process.  Wiktor would earn final swims & go best times in the 100 free (51.76) and 200 IM (2:05.28).  He would also swim best times in the 50 free (24.27) 100 breast (1:04.84).  

Kellen Condron from Nitro Swimming in Texas rounded out the 400 IM superfinal with a best time of 4:32.09.  Kellen would also swim best times in the 50 free (24.67), 100 free (53.19), 200 free (1:54.11), 100 fly (57.92), and 200 fly (2:05.90).
